James M. Jimenez
James M. Jimenez is the founder and president of Pacific Business Law, a Professional Corporation. He is a dynamic, results-oriented champion of his clients� business, real estate and financial interests. Jim excels in the representation of individual entrepreneurs, corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies. He has extensive expertise in a wide variety of corporate, securities, business and real estate transactions. Jim also specializes in representing clients involved in the purchase and sale of businesses and commercial real property. He has significant litigation and arbitration experience involving complex business and real estate matters. Jim has been practicing law in California for 30 years, and has been an outstanding attorney with such major law firms as Finley, Kumble, Wagner and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
Following his associations with these national firms, Jim founded his own law firm in 1988. Jim is experienced in a broad range of business transactions involving private, public, closely held and family-owned businesses. Jim�s clients are innovators in industries ranging from manufacturing, distribution and real estate to technology and professional services. He has expertly guided and advised clients in numerous industries on the structure and negotiation of business and real estate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, sales and financing of businesses, public and private offerings of securities and all matters pertaining to the formation, operation and dissolution of corporations, partnerships, joint ventures and limited liability companies. Jim is an expert in assessing, structuring and implementing creative asset protection strategies for clients that enable them to protect and secure their businesses, real estate holdings and personal wealth. He has vast experience in real estate transactions involving the acquisition, financing, leasing, development and sale of apartment buildings, office buildings, shopping centers and industrial and warehouse facilities. Jim is also an aggressive and talented advocate for clients that are involved in litigation or arbitration of business and real estate disputes. He has represented clients successfully in jury trials, numerous mediations and arbitrations, and has briefed and argued a case before the California Court of Appeal that resulted in a critical victory.
Prior to practicing law in Los Angeles, Jim received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Rochester and a Master of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in finance from the University of Rochester's Simon School of Business. Jim graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a Law Degree in 1980. He served as an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and was a finalist in Georgetown's prestigious moot court competition where he argued before a panel of distinguished jurists, including United States Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist. After graduating from Georgetown and prior to beginning his legal career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Jim served as Law Clerk to Judge Arthur Alarcon on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Jim was selected by his peers to serve on the Board of Governors of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association from 1993-1995 and on the Board of Governors of the California Trial Lawyers Association from 1992-1994. Jim also was selected to serve on the Business Court Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Business Law and Real Estate sections of the State Bar of California.
Jim resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife and their rescue Golden Retriever, Lincoln. His daughter, Elle, is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Elle currently is a law student at the Georgetown University Law Center.
